THE REAL slim shady!
Rap beef, or friendly fire? Eminem, Joe Budden, Bizarre & 50 cent
The entertainment industry seems to never run out of something spicy to get its fans engaged and feuds always seems to get the right amount of attention. The rap world is known for telling raw truths and opinions that more often than not leaves a messy atmosphere between rapper and directed individuals. Eminem’s latest album Revival got a lot of expected attention and everyone, fans and celebrities alike seem to have their piece on it, like taking a bite during cake tasting. Hmmm!
Eminem released a follow up track ‘Claustrophobic’ with 2 Chains in response to all the criticism and reviews his revival was getting which might have hit a nerve, as fans were quick to jump in and link his lines to be directed at Joe Budden. The fans always find their way about deciphering things like this.
If really directed as perceived, it probably wasn’t loud enough because Joe Budden during one of his podcast sessions of his Everyday Struggle seemed to be confused as to why Eminem’s lines were being linked to him. He said it was directed to people who had reviewed and criticised Reviewed and couldn’t be to him as he had not even listened to the album and therefore couldn’t fall in that category. He also talked about the criticism he had received from his niggas for not having his piece on it. Whether Joe had an honest or loyal intentions seems to be of little relevance as he has managed to get himself in the middle of this one.
Shady record’s Bizarre took to twitter to address Eminem’s Claustrophobic and Joe Budden’s involvement by taking Eminem’s side and offering supposed advice to Joe Budden, saying he shouldn’t have bitten the hand that fed him. Once again twitter goes on, proving to be one of celebrities’ favourite social media outlets. Thanks to Bizarre, if you also thought Em wasn’t speaking to Joe, it is too late! Joe got into the replying Biz on twitter.
Joe’s tweet however wasn’t so friendly; I mean we are in the middle of a diss guys! He didn’t want any of Bizarre’s ‘advice’ and threatened to beat the dog shit out of Bizarre in his exact words. Woah! hold up Joe! It is not time for that yet, or is it? I don’t know what it is with rappers always wanting to beat each other up (putting it lightly) anyways? This got a lot of fans asking the question, Is Joe wrong for talking about Em’s album. I don’t know about that, but what I do know is that Eminem is one of those guys that if you wanted to go up against, you had to be ready the reinforcements.
The dual between Joe and Bizarre turned to a battle royal with 50 Cents input. Interesting! Fifty warned Joe! “It was a bad idea to go on against Eminem the way that you did and that he should expecting a whoopin” Everyone is taking sides huh?
Fifty and Eminem have both managed to earn themselves a stellar rap-utation and fan-base over the years, and it comes as no surprise that Fifty would give his two cents on an issue involving Eminem.
Do you think Joe is ready for a reply from Eminem? Is he prepared to go against these three guys for his truth? 3 against 1, seems unfairly matched by the numbers. Will Joe prove to be up to it? Will this diss go from twitter to the studio? That is a possibility as Eminem doesn’t seem to be on twitter. Lots of questions have been asked as fans keep their fingers crossed. Whatever the case, it might just be a juicy line for rap fans to look forward to.
Lebron James.... The new Jim Brown?
LEBRON JAMES AND THE FIGHT AGAINST SOCIAL INJUSTICE
The H&M advertisement which shows a black child wearing a green hoodie with the phrase “coolest monkey in the jungle” and a white child wearing a “survival expert” hoodie has sparked lots of controversy with many people seeing it as a racist advertisement. Many are finding it very difficult to think that this was just a simple mistake. One point of view claims that the term monkey used here is to relate with a common name that is used to show affection to a child in Britain and it is also similar to “poppet”. This reason can force one to think or say that it had no intention of creating social injustice. Nevertheless, H&M did not mean to directly create tension in the black community but rather to use the words written on the green hoodie to show how dear and cool the child wearing the jacket is in our crazy world.
This H&M advert has therefore brought a spotlight to H&M’s undiversified nature of its company and especially the marketing unit because if a diversified team made up of different group of people were available, the advertisement could have been interpreted differently during editing and will not have been released. As a result, these shocks observed by H&M calls for an opportunity for the company to rectify the situation with their human resources department and ensure that they have teams that consist of diversified groups of people.
This H&M controversy comes at a time when cases of social injustice have been at its peak in these last few years. It also comes at a sensitive time with the social injustice suffered by black people both in the music and sports industry. Nevertheless, the words of Cleveland Cavalier star Lebron James who sought out to address the individuals who painted the “n-word” on the front gate of his Los Angeles home, James goes on to say “no matter how much money you have, no matter how famous you are, no matter how many people admire you, being black in America is though”. His words sparked lots of talks on social media and around the world and went a long way to sensitize the industry about the social injustice that prevails in the world. Lebron James said this with the hopes that it will pour more light and stir up positive discussions about racism around the world.
Furthermore last month Lebron James took to the pitch sneakers with words that preached equality for all. He wore one white sneakers and the other was black with both of them having equality inscribed at the back. Lebron recently took to Instagram to address the controversial “coolest little monkey in the jungle” H&M advertisement.
Lebron has been at the forefront of every social injustice issue as it pertains to Black people in this country, from Trayvon Martin to Mike Brown & Eric Garner, Lebron uses his social status to take a stand that most athletes of today wouldn’t risk taking. His method and deeds on and off the court has placed him in the spot a role model and strong advocate in the fight against social injustice amongst blacks in modern days, he easily be linked to former Cleveland Browns iconic running back Jim Brown. These men in their respective eras displayed a great deal of courage when it came down to speaking out against social injustice that directly affects blacks in America.
